Having Fun Raising Funds

The entrepreneurial spirit starts young in San Carlos!  This weekend, quite a few lemonade stands popped up…one strategically located next to an Open House.  However, one stood out for the big hearts behind it.

The lemonade & treat stand at the corner of St. Francis Way and Pearl Ave. went up on Sunday to help the Kuramoto family who lost their home at 1634 St. Francis to a devastating fire in July.

Fifteen girls between the ages of 6-7 from White Oaks came up with the idea because they wanted to help their friends…the Kuramoto children. A mother of one of the organizers said the girls came up with the concept on their own.  When I walked by, the girls were having a great time running the event (with parental supervision, of course).

According to the family’s Facebook page, the Kuramotos managed to find a rental in time for the kids to start school.

Yet another reason why San Carlos is such a wonderful place to live.

Agreed! What’s also nice is when the kids get older…and want to hang out by themselves…it’s a great neighborhood for that transition.
