The Guys Have It

November’s City Council ballot is beginning to take shape and if the current trend continues, the slate will lack a female candidate for the two open seats (now occupied by Brad Lewis & Randy Royce).

This means the next official City Council photo will look different, but distinctly and uniformly…male…not that there’s anything wrong with that, to borrow a phrase.  Perhaps one of the women who tried for Lewis’ interim seat will step forward?

According to Assistant City Manager Brian Moura, here’s the latest:

–San Carlos School Board Member Mark Olbert pulled papers Friday afternoon to file which means, explained Moura, “if he obtains signatures and files” he’d be the third candidate on the ballot.  According to the School District’s website, Olbert’s School Board term ends 2013; Moura says Olbert can’t serve on the council and the school board, so looks like Olbert would have a decision to make;

–Earlier this afternoon, Incumbent Council Member Randy Royce filed his paperwork and petition signatures…waiting for County certification; (updated:  now certified)

Ron Collins, a local businessman, was first to make his bid official; all his paperwork is done, in & certified.
