Belmont Robbery Suspects Arrested in San Carlos

Belmont Police Detectives ventured into San Carlos on Friday morning, October 28th and arrested two female suspects in connection with a robbery that took place earlier this week at a motel in Belmont.

Working with information that the two women were in the 1500 block of Greenwood Avenue, Belmont police – with the help of the San Carlos Police Bureau – took into custody 26-year old Stefanie Kavanaugh and 28-year old Josielyn Salgado of San Francisco.

Kavanaugh does not have a permanent address so her address is listed as “transient.”

“Several items of property which had been taken from the robbery at the motel, were recovered from the suspects at the time of their arrest,” according to Lt. Patrick Halleran of the Belmont Police Dept.

Both suspects were booked into the San Mateo County Jail in Redwood City. Kavanaugh is facing charges of robbery, possession of stolen property and conspiracy.

Salgado was booked on an outstanding warrant for violation of parole.

Detectives are seeking a third suspect described as a Filipino male in his 20’s.

Today’s arrests stem from the report of an alleged robbery on October 24th at a Motel 6. According to police, the victim – a businessman traveling from the east coast – met a woman his room and at some point, encountered an Asian male in his 20’s and a second woman who brandished a gun and demanded his laptop and camera.

Police say the victim received moderate facial injuries in a struggle with the male suspect, who punched him several times.

The investigation is ongoing.
