News Scout: Complaints about Day Laborers; Gaming Company Moving to SC

The Laurel Street Spy scouted local news sources and blogs and found:

–If you shop at Home Depot or Lucky’s in San Carlos, you’ve no doubt seen the crowd of day laborers hanging around in the parking lot hoping to find some work.

Daily News Staff writer Kristen Marschall reports that shoppers are complaining that they’re getting harassed by the wanna-be workers. Click here to read the full story and what Mayor Andy Klein and Sheriff’s Captain Greg Rothaus have to say about the ongoing problem.

–Social gaming company Kabam is relocating from its headquarters in Redwood City to larger office space at Skyway Landing in San Carlos. Details in the San Jose Business Journal. (The LSS has a call into Kabam…more later.)

Kabam – tagline: play for real – bills itself as the creator of  “hardcore” multiplayer social games that are “highly immersive” with titles like Dragons of Atlantis and  The Godfather: Five Families.

–Realtor Bob Bredel hit Eucalyptus Avenue on Halloween and has a video of the amazing Pirates Cove on his San Carlos Blog. (The LSS stayed home to see what crazy costumes the neighbor kids came up with this year…not disappointed!)

–On White Oaks Blog, realtor Chuck Gillooley features a Victorian-style house for sale at 112 Aster Road in the so-called Howard Park neighborhood. It’s a 4/4, 2,860 square foot house re-built in 2004 and listed at $2,100,000 (!)

Beautiful house on Aster! I goggle mapped it to see where it was located and from the aerial view, I thought the neighbor to the left must not appreciate the towering house next door, but the (apparently) updated street view shows they are definitely, “keeping up with the Joneses”

Bob…I walk by that house all the time and always wanted to know what it looked like inside! Google aerial view very handy…
