San Carlos Peet’s. Some Progress

Good news for Peetnik’s.

The City of San Carlos put its stamp of approval on an important permit today for Peet’s Coffee & Tea, set to open in the old Blockbuster store at 677 Laurel Street .

Specifically, the “interior tenant improvement permit,” according to Chris Valley, Building Official for the City of San Carlos.

Another permit, already approved, allowed changes to the building’s façade.  The exterior work includes redoing the front entry and the rear entrance/exit.  This made it possible to divide the 9,000 square foot space into two suites.

Valley said Peet’s will occupy the right side, with a recessed entry and an outdoor seating area.  No tenant for the left side.  Yet.

For fans of Peet’s hand roasted coffee, the big question is when will it open?

Factoring in 8 to 10 weeks for construction, Valley said he expects a mid-summer launch.

Still waiting for an update from SF based Peet’s.
