Who’s Running for Interim City Council Seat?

This story updated Friday early evening after quick jaunt to City Hall where Brian Moura was adding names to his growing list of applicants.

Applications for a city temp job that pays $300 a month trickled in through the day.  By the 5pm deadline, Assistant City Manager Brian Moura counted eleven applicants for the position of Interim City Council Member.  High profile former SC mayor/Pixar director Brad Lewis is among them.

The SC City Council put out a call for applications to fill the vacancy left by the sudden death of Mayor Omar Ahmad on May 10th.

The position runs through December.  Current council members will interview the applicants starting at 5:30 pm Monday in the library conference room.  They may make a decision that night.  Or maybe not, depending on how far they get considering the number of candidates.

Moura said filling the vacant seat is an option.  The council can make an appointment or decide to leave it open.

And the applicants are….

* Elizabeth (Betty) Torrez, Retired, San Carlos School District
* John Sieling, Realtor, Today Sotheby’s
* Brad Langford, Technology Marketing, Cisco
