According to Belmont Chief Don Mattei, his detectives joined up with San Mateo detectives to “track down” 21-year old Travis Castellanos of South San Francisco and 20-year old Jenna Montani of San Mateo. Both were arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Jail.
While the investigation continues, “detectives believe that these suspects may be responsible for hundreds of thefts up and down the Peninsula,” according to the press release.
This isn’t the first time one of the suspects has run afoul of the law. The Belmont PD reports last night, “marked the third time that Castellanos has been arrested in Belmont for theft/burglary in the past 18 months.”
In May, Castellanos led Belmont PD on a car chase that ended in San Carlos when, “he and another female accomplice crashed into the front of a house” following several car burglaries.
Police are contacting victims to identify stolen property recovered last night, which includes cell phones, gift cards, personal electronics, purses, checkbooks, wallets and backpacks.
In the press release, Chief Don Mattei writes, “Our Detectives worked tirelessly on these cases. I’m proud of this Police Department, and I’m proud of the way this community came together to look out for one another.”
